Volunteer

Many people hear about us and respond, “That sounds great! How can I help?” The best way to get everyone involved is to determine where your interests and skills lie and join forces with others who share your passion.
We have undergone a few changes in our Board members and are looking to fill a few spots this year, but we will discuss those at our Town Hall Meeting at Wellworx Sportsplex on Wednesday, February 11, 2009, at 6:30PM.
But in addition to board member positions, we need volunteers to lead or work on various committees, which focus on specific areas. Here are a few example of committees we’re looking to form in 2009:
Education: We need people who can teach cycling safety to cyclists. We also need people who are interested in teaching safe driving practices to motorists who may encounter cyclists. These people will plan, promote, and run safety training seminars.
Publicity: We need to get our name, image, and goals out there for the general public to recognize. Writing press releases, distributing promotional materials, and helping to design those materials will be part of this volunteer position’s description.
Events: While we happily accept donations, we need to take the responsibility for raising funds upon ourselves. This committee will plan, promote, and manage fundraising events such as rides and awareness events. This will obviously take a few people to do properly.
Event Representatives: This is a great job for those who want to be a representative for Share the Road at local events. Setting up a table and selling t-shirts, handing out promotional materials, and promoting our cause at local events (such as rides, festivals, triathlons, etc.) is the sole purpose of this volunteer opportunity.
WE NEED YOU! It’s going to take all of us actively working in the community to make an impact for our cause. Each individual’s input is needed and greatly appreciated!
